DIANA Model 56 Target Hunter .177 Caliber

DIANA Model 56 Target Hunter .177 Caliber

Product Information
DIANA Model 56 Target Hunter .177 Caliber

The Diana 56 Target Hunter is a dream to shoot with no felt recoil and very little vibration during the shot cycle.  It's remarkable to shoot a gun that easily obtains more than 20 ft lbs of kinetic energy that hardly moves in your hand from the moment you pull the trigger and the pellet strikes the target.  Superb accuracy and a pin sharp scope view are two reasons to appreciate the German craftmanship and ingenuity of a recoil free high power air rifle.  In the world of spring piston guns, the 56 is the closest you can get to the feel of  PCP smoothness.
The new T06 trigger is standard equipment on the 56, and with an average weight of just over 1lb as factory setting, requires no adjustment.  This all-metal trigger is crisp and light with no awkward pause or delay before breaking.
The thumbhole stock has been very well thought out in it's design and is ambidextrous with a generous pistol grip port on either side.
There is ample machine cut checkering on the forearm and pistol grip to ensure a slip free grip and the butt pad is scalloped to comfortably fit the contour of your shoulder. The butt pad can also be adjusted for vertical position which is a nice touch.  The high comb cheekpiece is perfect for scope use and scope alignment with most objective lens sizes will not be a problem. The integral scope rail is suitable for scope rings with a clamping width of 11mm in either one or two piece styles and there is the customary raised recoil stop at the back of the dovetail mount.
The 56 in .177 is very powerful with kinetic energy ratings of 20-22 foot lbs possible with a wide array of pellet weights.  Recent results from testing showed a 56 TH in .177 averaging 1070 with RWS Superdome 8.3 grain pellets and another 56 generating 940 average with H&N Baracuda pellets which weigh considerably more at 10.65 grains.  Both rifles produced energy levels in the 21 pound class which is very high for .177 caliber.
This rifle will be exceptional for long range pest control on smaller varmints, especially with the heavier .177 pellet choices.
Diana have included a substantial muzzle weight as finishing for the barrel, and the increased forward weight will stabilize the rifle and help it resist movement during shooting.  The trade-off is a heavier carry weight, so using this rifle in the field will be more difficult without a sling. In fact, the rifle weighs a hefty 11 pounds without scope.   The automatic safety is standard on the 56 and is located at the tang or rear of the receiver tube.
The Diana Model 56 Target Hunter is a superb rifle in looks, handling and accuracy.

How it works ~

the model 56 uses a sliding action that moves rearward upon firing.  When the rifle is cocked it is important to completely pull the side lever cocking mechanism all the way back.  When the action moves forward in the stock, it is now ready to load the pellet and fire.  When the trigger is pulled, the action slides back in the stock and absorbs the power of the heavy recoiling mainspring mechanism.  The sporter stocked model 54 shares the same characteristic recoil-less design and was the first model to incorporate a sliding action.  The benefits are improved sight picture during the shot cycle as the scope will stay aligned to the target, smooth shooting with substantial power ( it feels like shooting a de-tuned springer ) and most importantly, greater accuracy.
