Remington Nitro Piston Air rifle Combo .177 Cal.
Product Information Remington Nitro Piston .177 Every Nitro Piston we sell will be chronographed and mechanically checked for quality. The Remington Nitro Piston comes fitted with a carbon-fiber ( look ) stock that is an ambidextrous thumbhole which is very comfortable in the hands and comes to the shoulder with good natural scope alignment. Crosman have also added an adjustable cheek piece as well which allows a positional change for the comb by way of retaining pins which can be removed from the stock to allow the cheekpiece to be slid up or down. This feature adds a " custom " option to the rifle as different scope objectives can be accomodated if the provided scope is ever swapped out for one with a larger front lens or if a different head position is needed when using the existing Centerpoint scope. The Nitro with upgraded optics is topped with a centerpoint 3-9x40 airgun scope. This scope model is parallax adjustable down to 7.5 meters. A one piece scope mount is included with a depth adjustable recoil pin fitted to the base to prevent scope shift along the dovetail. Crosman rates this rifle at an very respectable 1200 fps which can only be obtained with a super light non-lead ( alloy ) pellet. (We will be posting actual velocity readings with lead pellets as they become available ). The really interesting aspect of the non-coil spring powerplant is the fact that you can leave the rifle cocked for long periods of time without harming the internals. ( Technology developed by Theoben of the U.K. ) The other benefits of the gas ram system is the low maintenance required to keep your gun in good working order as the gas strut does not require lubrication or adjustment. Our range testing also found the Nitro Piston to be a very quiet air rifle for the power that it generates. In fact an independent review done by Intertek showed the Nitro Piston was 70% quieter than a competitors " quiet " break barrel rifle when measured with a decibel meter. The trigger is good, albeit a little heavy in weight as the average pull of our sample was coming in at 5 lbs 10 ounces. The factory settings are certainly useable and as far as fine tuning the unit, adjustments are limited to second stage travel only. The weight may come down some with use as the parts wear in. Crosman also state that the rifle will require a break-in period of 100 shots or so before full power and best accuracy are obtained. Our testing showed that the rifle was a little inconsistent " out of the box " as well, with velocities through the chronograph varying by as much as 30 fps.
