The HW90 is the most powerful Weihrauch break-barrel in the line-up.  Chronograph results prove that this gun is capable of generating 23+ ft lbs of energy in .22.  In fact a recently tested HW90 with H&N Baracuda pellets clocked in at 709 fps with the .22 caliber 21.14 grain pellets for an amazing ( 23.60 ft lbs ).  The .22 Baracuda is a seriously heavy pellet, but the HW90 pushes them out with ease at a very useable hunting velocity.  The Baracuda was also very accurate out of the 90 with tight clusters appearing downrange on the target at 25 yards.  The HW also shot well with JSB Exact and H&N Field Target Trophy rounds as well.  The 18.1 grain JSB pellet velocities were 770. 769 .753 .759 .767 averaging 763.6 fps and producing 23.44 ft lbs!  The FTT weighing 14.66 grains was right up there as well with 844 .839 .842 . 847 .830 for an average of 840.4 fps and 22.99 ft lbs.  All three pellets  shot comparably well out of this rifle. 
 The power plant in the HW90 is a gas strut which produces it's formidable downrange velocity by compressing an enclosed volume of air ( instead of a metal spring ) and remarkably does not grow weaker with age and use.  The HW90 can be left cocked for extended time without damaging the  internal components of the rifle, which makes it perfect for hunting.  Another benefit of the gas strut is the lack of required maintenance to keep the rifle working flawlessly.  The internal components are sealed and need no lubrication whatsoever.
The HW90 is built with the " elite " trigger system which is very light and crisp, and boasts a unique feature that Weihrauch did not build into any other model, save the HW100, that being a re-settable automatic safety which allows the shooter the option of returning the rifle to a "safe" state any time a shot  opportunity is lost.  The " elite" trigger we tested had a very nice 1 pound 10.2 ounce weight before breaking and needed absolutely zero adjustment as it was close to perfect right out of the box with factory setting.
The HW90 comes standard with a hooded front and rear adjustable sight system and the receiver is grooved for either one or two piece scope mounts.  When mounting a scope however, it is highly recommended that the Dampa mount be used as the shooting cycle of the 90 is sharp and for the best accuracy and scope longevity the rubber bushings in the Dampa mount are well worth the extra cost.
The stock of the 90 is oriented for a RH shooter and has a pronounced monte carlo cheekpiece which is very comfortable and excellent for scope or iron sight use.  The only negative aspect of this rifle is the cocking effort to bring it to loading position.  This rifle requires substantial force ( approx. 45 lbs ) to cock and is not suitable for young shooters or anyone with an arm or shoulder injury.  The Weihrauch HW90 is an excellent rifle with tons of power and very good accuracy, especially suited to small game hunting.  Effective range for hunting 55 yards +.
